Live Scan Fingerprinting
The California Department of Justice (DOJ) has established a process of performing background checks utilizing digitized fingerprints. A relatively new process, called Live Scan, which allows fingerprints to be electronically transmitted to the DOJ in a matter of seconds. This technology replaces rolling fingerprints on an ink pad and sending them in the mail. This delay slowed the process by weeks and even months, and if smudged, the process may have to be repeated.
The Live Scan process notifies the results of your criminal background check to your organization or employer within days.
Ink Fingerprinting
Traditional ink fingerprints is taken with manual ink cards (FD-258) can also be taken at our facility. These are commonly used for out-of-state licenses, FINRA requirements, Federal employment applications and for FBI Record Request.
However, effective July 1, 2005, Penal Code section 11077.1 mandates the CA Department of Justice only accept electronically transmitted fingerprint images from regulatory entities performing background investigations of applicants. Ink Fingerprints can only be taken for federal or out-of-state request only. Check with your requesting agency to verify the type of fingerprints needed
